All employees are required to receive health and safety training to ensure that they are able to identify common hazards in the workplace and how to deal with them. They must also understand the purpose of risk assessments and the part they play in developing the controls that are put in place to protect themselves and others.

 

The Health and Safety Awareness course provides an interactive experience for attendees to learn the basic elements of health and safety in the workplace and is ideally suited as initial training, the basis for other specific training in a blended approach or as a refresher training course to improve your company's health and safety culture.

Aims of the Course

Health and Safety Awareness aims to give employees the essential information they need to work safely. The course follows a nationally recognised syllabus where at the end of the training trainees will be able to:

• Understand their responsibilities for health, safety and environment issues in the workplace.

• Recognise the part they can play in securing the health and safety of themselves and others.

• Improve the safety performance of the organisation by recognising hazards and risks and knowing what to do.

• Ensure accidents and incidents are reported and take part in finding solutions to prevent a reoccurrence.

• Recognise common hazards in the workplace and know what to do to prevent accidents and ill-health.

• Appreciate the importance of safe behaviours and how a positive health, safety and environment culture affects an organisations performance.

• Subjects covered include - working at height, manual handling, sharps training, asbestos, riddor, hasawa, confined spaces, coshh, ladders & stepladders, hazard spotting, health and safety culture.
